Summer Camps for Military Youth

Several free or reduced cost residential camps for Military Youth will occur in Georgia during summer 2010.  Additional camps at the bottom of this page highlight other unique opportunities for Military Youth with additional restrictions such as component and service branch affiliation but may be national in scope.  Please forward this email for widest distribution!

Operation: Military Kids Camps
Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, GA will host OMK High Adventure Camp July 25-29, 2010.  OMK High Adventure Camp is for youth ages 12-14.  Download a registration form by clicking here.  Visit www.georgia4h.org/omk for more information.  

Georgia Military Youth Advisory Council
Military Teens from all branches and all components are invited to apply.  This selective group will develop personal leadership skills and share issues facing military youth in Georgia with elected official such as the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Adjutant General and more!  Look for an application in early April.  The Council will convene 27-30 June 2010 in Athens, Georgia.  Check here for more information when it becomes available.

Operation Purple Camps

Fortson 4-H Center in Hampton, GA will host Operation Purple Camp May 30-June 4.  Operation Purple Camp is a program of the National Military Family Association.  Operation Purple Camp - Hampton is for youth ages 10-12.  Apply at www.operationpurple.org today.   Application period closes on April 16th.

Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island, GA will host Operation Purple Camp July 11 - 15, 2010.  Operation Purple Camp - Tybee Island is for youth ages 10-12. Apply at www.operationpurple.org.  Application period closes on April 16th. 

Army Reserve Enrichment Camps
Youth ages 6 to 17 are eligible to apply to this camp in Northeast Georgia.  The camp will occur 11-17 July 2010.  Click here to register.  Army Reserve Enrichment Camps are open only to dependents of Army Reservists.

Air Force Reserve/Air National Guard Teen Summits
Three Teen Summits will occur for youth ages 15-18:
Dahlonega, GA - 13-18 June 2010
Boulder, CO - 20-25 June 2010
Estes Park, CO - 10-15 August 2010

Air Force Space Camp
Open to family members of Active Duty Military assigned to or living on an Air Force installation, Air Force Retired Military, AF Civilian Employees, or activated Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve.  Camp take place 25-30 July 2010.  Click here for more information and to apply.

Air ForceTeen Aviation Camp
Camp with be held at the USAFA in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO. The camp will be held from 5 - 10 Jun 2010. The camp is for high school students entering their sophomore or junior year in the fall of 2010. Eligible applicants include teen dependents of Active Duty Military assigned to or living on an Air Force Base, AF Retired Military, AF Civilian Employees, or activated Air National Guard or AF Reserve. Air Force Youth of the Year
Air Force Services Youth of the Year Program will be held in Washington DC 23-26 June 2010.  For more information and specific details, contact your local Air Force Youth Programs office at your base or Brandi Mullins for AF Reserve Teens.

Air Force Teen Leadership Camp
This camp is for high school students entering their freshman to senior year in the fall of 2010 who are interested in leadership, team dynamics and peer mentorship. Eligible applicants include teen dependants of AF Active Duty military assigned to or living on an Air Force Base, AF retired military, AF Civilian Employees, or activated Air National Guard or AF Reserve at CONUS installations only. Priority will be given to dependants with deployed sponsors.  Click here for more information and to apply.
